DANCE has always been a popular pursuit in the Hastings and many of our talented youngsters have gone on to bright careers in Australia and overseas.

Recently in the Royal Academy of Dance vocational graded exams in Sydney some La Vive Classique Academy of Dance students, who have trained at advanced level, gained the best results ever.

Amber Jenkins, 17, hopes to make a career in dance and this result, considering she has only been doing ballet for 18 months, reflects her determination and growth.

Sixteen-year-old Tiegan Rockliff, who has been with La Vive for a year, was offered a spot with the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School but has decided to study full time at Le Academy on the Central Coast in 2015.

Grace Caldwell, who is also 16, dances with a passion and has the world at her feet.

Amber, Tiegan and Grace all earned distinctions.

Stefani Yuzucu, 17, and Crystal Philips, 18, who have been training with studio principal Elizabeth Polson-Galloway for 12 years, completed their advanced 2 level this year, the highest level of training possible in the Royal Academy of Dance (excluding the Solo Seal).

Crystal returned after a year at university to complete her exam in two short months.

La Vive always welcomes back their students when they want to complete a certificate.

Stefani, who is a part-time student, received a distinction, which is an outstanding result when most of her contemporaries study full-time.

Stefani wishes to pursue a career in dance and her result will be beneficial when it comes to audition time.

"Well done girls, you have bright futures ahead," Polson-Galloway said.

La Vive Classique Academy of Dance has ben teaching the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Syllabus in the Hastings for 29 years.

From January 2015 all vocational graded levels will be examined in the new RAD syllabus which builds on the elements covered in the graded syllabus, focusing on the performance of ballet of an advanced standard.

It is intended for students hope to have a career in dance.

The RAD offers an internationally recognised portfolio of examinations and assessments designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement.
